Since being pregnant, I have been more aware of making sure I am staying hydrated. While I am still a “must have my cup of coffee as soon as I wake up” girl, I have been backing it up with my new electrolyte obsession. I opted for a “homemade” version of electrolytes over a powder or packet because 1. I DO NOT need another subscription in my life 2. My gut always feels iffy about “what to actually trust”

So what exactly do electrolytes do? Electrolytes’ job is to help maintain fluid balance, support muscle and nerve function, regulate the body’s PH levels, and promotes overall health

The added benefits of electrolytes while pregnant:

Maintain hydration, reduces muscle cramps, boost energy levels, supports fetal development, and regulates blood pressure

Electrolytes’ job is to help maintain fluid balance, support muscle and nerve function, regulate the body’s PH levels, and promotes overall health

My simple ingredients: lemon juice, coconut water, salt, fruit of choice, water, and ice.

And since starting this new habit it takes me 2 minutes to make.

Steps:

  1. Squeeze a whole lemon into the blender

  2. Pour in 1/2 cup of coconut water

  3. 1 teaspoon of Celtic sea salt

  4. 3-4 pieces of a fruit of choice. My favorite is watermelon but I have done blueberries and cantaloupe as well

  5. Blend that all up!

  6. Strain over ice in a 30oz cup or a big mason jar

  7. Top the rest off with water and stir up!
